Spiral conveyors are used in processes that require the moving raw materials or finished products to remain on the belt for a long time to carry out the technological process, such as cooling, blast freezing, drying, etc.

A spiral conveyor is a structure consisting of vertical supports and supporting guides installed spirally around them. The supporting guides form the base on which the conveying element (metal mesh or modular belt) moves.

The conveying element can be driven by a central drum or a side drive.

A design with a central drive drum consists of the central drum itself, on which vertical plastic profiles and horizontal sliding profiles are mounted. The vertical profiles drive the conveying element by frictional force against the edges of the conveying element.

The design of the lateral drive is a vertical shaft connected to a gearmotor, on which drive sprockets are mounted, which are assigned to each corresponding turn of the conveyor. The sprockets engage with the conveying element, thereby driving it.

The spiral conveyor has a complex design and, when using a side-driven spiral conveyor, requires lubrication.

SPBelt specialists have improved the design of the spiral conveyor and developed their own unique solution that does not require the use of lubricants during its operation.

This is achieved through the use of stainless steel mesh, which has a unique patented design. The mesh runs on profiles made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, which ensures a constant extremely low coefficient of friction between the mesh and the sliding profiles.

Benefits of the side drive spiral conveyor:

1. No costly center drum, which saves space inside the conveyor. You can install the spiral conveyor around construction elements or place refrigeration equipment inside the conveyor.
2. Easy maintenance and a more hygienic solution is provided by the absence of a center drum. Washing and cleaning of the equipment is facilitated.
3. At the same time, it is easy to clean the equipment.
4. The mesh runs as smoothly as possible without jerking. The product retains its position on the mesh during the entire transportation time.
5. The ability to place the entrance and exit to the conveyor at the same height.
6. No risk of scuffing of the mesh due to excessive tension, which is often the case with the classic spiral system with drive drum.
7. The possibility of using different meshes in one spiral system.
8. Different designs: oval, cylinder, figure eight.
9. The design allows the use of wide mesh and allows one mesh to move up and down one spiral (P-loop).
